gum disease
Mouth tissue infection
Gum disease is infection and inflammation of the tissues surrounding and supporting the teeth.
It ranges from gingivitis, a mild form causing red and swollen gums, to periodontitis, where gums pull away from teeth and bone deteriorates.
Left untreated, gum disease leads to tooth loss.
The dentist said my bleeding gums were early signs of gum disease.
