cobalamin
Essential blood nutrient
Cobalamin is vitamin B12, an essential nutrient for nerve function and red blood cell formation.
The name comes from cobalt, the metal at its molecular center.
Deficiency causes anemia and neurological problems.
Found naturally in animal products, cobalamin is often taken as a supplement by vegans and older adults with absorption issues.
