clacker

Clicking percussion instrument

A clacker is something that makes a sharp, repetitive sound—the noise of hard objects striking together.

The word applies to various noisemaking toys and devices, from the ball-on-string toys popular in the 1970s to hand-held percussion instruments.

Clackers can also mean teeth or dentures: His clackers were chattering in the cold.

In Australian slang, a clacker is the anus.
