clapperboard
Film take identifier
A clapperboard is a hinged board clapped together at the start of filming to synchronize picture and sound.
The sharp clap creates a visual and audio reference point that editors match when combining separately recorded tracks.
Also called a slate, it typically displays scene and take numbers: The assistant held up the clapperboard before calling "Action!".
