sex chromosome
X or Y
A sex chromosome is one of the chromosomes that determine biological sex in humans and many other species.
Humans have two sex chromosomes: females typically carry two X chromosomes, males an X and a Y.
The other chromosomes, which don't determine sex, are called autosomes.
The Y chromosome carries the gene that triggers male development.
