ceramist

Kiln-firing artisan

A ceramist is a person who makes ceramic objects—pottery, tiles, sculpture, or other items from clay that are hardened by heat.

The term applies to both artists working in the medium and craftspeople producing functional wares: The ceramist shaped the vase on her wheel.
