sprigging
Inserting grass runners
Sprigging is the practice of planting sprigs—small rooted sections of grass—to establish a lawn or turf.
Unlike seeding or sodding, sprigging involves inserting individual plant pieces into prepared soil: The golf course used sprigging to establish the bermudagrass greens.
In ceramics, sprigging is attaching small molded decorations to pottery before firing.
