cations
Anode-seeking particles
Cations are positively charged ions—atoms or molecules that have lost one or more electrons.
The term contrasts with anions, which carry negative charge.
Cations are drawn toward negatively charged electrodes (cathodes) in electrolysis: Sodium cations migrate toward the cathode.
Common cations include hydrogen, sodium, potassium, and calcium ions.
