absolute pitch
Hearing names notes
Absolute pitch is the ability to identify or produce a musical note without a reference tone.
Someone with absolute pitch can hear a sound and name it—That's an A-flat—or sing a requested note without first hearing another.
Also called perfect pitch.
The ability is rare and appears to have both genetic and early-training components.
