black tea

Earl Grey's type

Black tea is tea that has been fully oxidized during processing, giving the leaves a dark color and the brewed drink a robust, sometimes astringent flavor.

It's the most common tea in Western countries, the base for English breakfast, Earl Grey, and most iced teas.

Distinct from green tea, which is unoxidized, and oolong, which is partially oxidized.
