Common leaf grade
Orange pekoe is a grade of black tea referring to leaf size and quality, not flavor or color.
The term designates whole tea leaves of a certain size, picked from the top of the plant.
Despite what the name suggests, it contains no orange: She brewed a pot of orange pekoe.
In North America, it's often used loosely to mean ordinary black tea.
