Stored as pixels
Bitmapped describes images or fonts stored as a grid of individual pixels rather than mathematical formulas.
Each pixel's color and position is recorded separately, which allows precise control but causes jagged edges when scaled: The bitmapped graphics looked blocky when enlarged.
The alternative is vector graphics, which scale smoothly.
