nonalignment
Refusing bloc membership
Nonalignment is the policy of not joining military alliances or siding with major powers in international conflicts.
The term emerged during the Cold War to describe nations that refused to align with either the United States or the Soviet Union: India pursued nonalignment as a founding principle of its foreign policy.
The Non-Aligned Movement formalized this stance among developing nations.
