anti-communists

Cold War hawks

Anti-communists are people who oppose communism as a political ideology or system of government.

The term covers a wide spectrum—from democratic socialists who reject Soviet-style governance to far-right nationalists who see any leftist movement as a threat.

During the Cold War, anti-communist was both a political identity and an accusation: McCarthy built his career as a crusader against anti-communists in government.

The label can be neutral or charged depending on context and speaker.
