overjet
Front teeth projection
Overjet is the horizontal distance between the upper and lower front teeth when the jaw is closed.
In a normal bite, the upper teeth slightly overlap the lower; excessive overjet means the upper teeth protrude noticeably forward.
Often confused with overbite, which measures vertical overlap.
The orthodontist said braces would correct her overjet.
