animal feed

Hay and grain

Animal feed is food given to livestock and other domesticated animals—grain, hay, silage, or manufactured pellets formulated for nutritional needs.

The term distinguishes food intended for animals from that meant for humans: The corn crop goes mainly to animal feed.

Also called simply feed.
