malnourishment
Lack of nutrients
Malnourishment is the condition of not getting adequate nutrition—whether from insufficient food, the wrong balance of nutrients, or inability to absorb what's consumed.
It encompasses both undernutrition and conditions caused by dietary excess or imbalance: The drought led to widespread malnourishment.
The term is often used interchangeably with malnutrition.
