Maya homeland region
Yucatán is a peninsula in southeastern Mexico and Central America, separating the Gulf of Mexico from the Caribbean Sea.
It encompasses the Mexican states of Yucatán, Campeche, and Quintana Roo, along with parts of Belize and Guatemala.
The region is known for Mayan ruins and Caribbean resort towns: We visited Chichén Itzá on our trip to the Yucatán.
