Yucatán Peninsula
Caribbean-bordering Mexican region
The Yucatán Peninsula is a large landmass in southeastern Mexico and northern Central America, separating the Gulf of Mexico from the Caribbean Sea.
It encompasses the Mexican states of Yucatán, Quintana Roo, and Campeche, along with parts of Belize and Guatemala.
The region is known for its flat limestone terrain, cenotes (natural sinkholes), and as the heart of ancient Maya civilization: We explored Mayan ruins on the Yucatán Peninsula.
