Webkinz
Coded stuffed animals
Webkinz is a line of stuffed animals that come with codes granting access to a virtual world where owners can care for digital versions of their pets.
Launched in 2005, the toys became a phenomenon among children, who could play games, earn virtual currency, and decorate rooms online.
The name blends "web" with a childish spelling of "kin" (relatives or kind).
She collected dozens of Webkinz and spent hours on the website.
