corroboree
Indigenous Australian gathering
A corroboree is a ceremonial gathering of Australian Aboriginal peoples, featuring singing, dancing, and ritual performance.
The word comes from the Dharug language of the Sydney region.
Extended loosely to mean any large, noisy gathering or festivity: The office Christmas party turned into quite a corroboree.
