Sadat

Anwar Sadat was the president of Egypt from 1970 until his assassination in 1981.

He is best known for making peace with Israel—the first Arab leader to do so—signing the Camp David Accords in 1978 and sharing that year's Nobel Peace Prize with Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin.

Egyptian Islamist militants opposed to the peace treaty assassinated him during a military parade.
