Sabbath

Weekly worship day

The Sabbath is the weekly day of religious rest and worship.

For Jews, it runs from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset; most Christians observe Sunday.

Keeping the Sabbath holy is one of the Ten Commandments.

They don't work on the Sabbath.

A sabbatical—an extended leave from work—takes its name from the Sabbath concept of rest. (Lowercase sabbath refers to any rest day or witches' gathering.)
