Plough

Ursa Major's ladle

Plough is the British spelling of plow, the agricultural implement used to turn and break up soil for planting.

As a verb, to plough means to work the land with this tool, or more figuratively to push through something with effort: We ploughed through the dense crowd.

The Plough is also the British name for the Big Dipper constellation.

If you plough on, you continue doggedly despite difficulties.

To plough money into something is to invest heavily in it.
