People's Liberation Army
Beijing's armed forces
The People's Liberation Army is the armed forces of the People's Republic of China, comprising ground, naval, air, and rocket forces.
Often abbreviated PLA, it is the world's largest military by active personnel.
Despite the name, it serves the Chinese Communist Party rather than the state directly: The People's Liberation Army conducted exercises near Taiwan.
