Paleoindians
First American settlers
Paleoindians were the earliest human inhabitants of the Americas, arriving from Asia via a land bridge during the last Ice Age and spreading across North and South America between roughly 15,000 and 10,000 years ago.
The term appears in archaeological and anthropological contexts: Paleoindian sites yield distinctive fluted stone points.
Also spelled Paleo-Indians.
