Indians
South Asian people
Indians has two main meanings.
Most commonly, it refers to people from India or of Indian descent: Indian food, Indian cinema.
The word also historically designated Indigenous peoples of the Americas—a misnomer from Columbus believing he had reached India.
This second usage persists in terms like American Indian and Indian reservation, though many now prefer Native American or specific tribal names.
Context usually clarifies which meaning applies.
