Nicosia

Divided island capital

Nicosia is the capital and largest city of Cyprus, divided since 1974 between the Greek Cypriot south and Turkish-occupied north.

It remains the world's last divided capital, split by a United Nations buffer zone: We crossed the Green Line in Nicosia.
