M1 Garand

American service rifle

The M1 Garand is a semi-automatic rifle that served as the standard U.S. military infantry weapon from 1936 through the Korean War.

It fires .30 caliber ammunition from an eight-round clip that ejects with a distinctive metallic ping when empty.

General Patton called it "the greatest battle implement ever devised." The rifle remains popular among collectors and competitive shooters.
