semiautomatic

One pull, one round

Semiautomatic describes a firearm that fires one round per trigger pull and automatically reloads the next round from the magazine: a semiautomatic pistol, a semiautomatic rifle.

This distinguishes it from fully automatic weapons (which fire continuously while the trigger is held) and manual-action firearms (which require chambering each round by hand).

Often shortened to semi: He carries a semi.
