Corporate revenue segment

A lob is a type of throw that describes the trajectory of the object being thrown: a lob is high and arcing.

If you lob something, you throw it in this way.

The noun lob is also used to characterize a similar trajectory in sports: The batter hit a lob over the center fielder’s head.

A lob in tennis is a stroke that sends the ball high and deep into the opponent’s side of the court.
