Kiswahili

East African language

Kiswahili is the Swahili language's name for itself—Swahili as spoken by its speakers.

The prefix *ki-* marks it as a language, just as *Kiingereza* is English and *Kifaransa* is French.

In English contexts, Kiswahili often signals cultural authenticity or respect for the language's African identity: She's studying Kiswahili at the university.
