IMP

Early router abbreviation

An imp is a small mischievous demon or sprite, a figure from folklore who causes trouble but rarely serious harm.

The word extends to mischievous children: That little imp hid my keys again.

In older usage, imp meant offspring or child generally, without the devilish connotation.
