Harper Lee

Harper Lee was an American novelist best known for *To Kill a Mockingbird* (1960), a story of racial injustice in the Depression-era South that became one of the most widely read books in American education.

The novel won a Pulitzer Prize and shaped how generations understood civil rights.

Her second novel, *Go Set a Watchman*, was published controversially in 2015 shortly before her death.
