Truman Capote

Truman Capote was an American writer (1924–1984) known for stylish prose and sharp social observation.

His novella *Breakfast at Tiffany's* and the nonfiction novel *In Cold Blood* remain widely read.

Capote was equally famous as a personality—a fixture in New York society, known for his distinctive voice, flamboyant manner, and celebrated feuds.

His name sometimes evokes a certain kind of literary celebrity: brilliant, gossipy, ultimately self-destructive.
