Hadrian's Wall

Ancient British fortification

Hadrian's Wall is a Roman fortification stretching across northern England, built around 122 CE under Emperor Hadrian to mark the empire's northern frontier.

The stone barrier ran roughly 73 miles from coast to coast.

Today the ruins are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and tourist attraction: We walked along Hadrian's Wall last summer.
