Eurovision
Continental singing contest
Eurovision is an annual international song contest organized by the European Broadcasting Union, in which countries submit original songs performed live and viewers vote for their favorites.
The competition, running since 1956, is known for elaborate staging, passionate fan followings, and occasionally campy performances: Eurovision gave us ABBA.
The name combines Europe with television.
