Eliot Ness

Chicago crime fighter

Eliot Ness was an American law enforcement agent famous for leading the "Untouchables," a team of Prohibition-era federal agents who pursued Chicago gangster Al Capone in the 1930s.

The nickname reflected their reputation for refusing bribes.

Ness became a symbol of incorruptible law enforcement, though his legend grew more from later dramatizations than from his actual career accomplishments.
