crimebusters
Those fighting lawbreakers
Crimebusters are people or groups who fight crime, especially with unusual effectiveness or enthusiasm.
The term carries a slightly playful, comic-book quality—more likely to describe vigilantes, special task forces, or fictional heroes than ordinary police: The mayor assembled a team of crimebusters to tackle the drug problem.
Sometimes used ironically for overzealous enforcers.
