federal agents
FBI field operatives
Federal agents are employees of the United States government who work for agencies with law enforcement or investigative authority—FBI agents, DEA agents, ATF agents, and the like.
The term often appears in news coverage of raids, arrests, and investigations: Federal agents seized documents from the warehouse.
In casual speech, "the feds" serves as shorthand.
