doorposts
Entry frame sides
Doorposts are the vertical side pieces of a door frame—the upright structures on either side that support the lintel above.
The word appears most often in biblical contexts, where Israelites marked their doorposts with lamb's blood during Passover: They shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two doorposts.
Jewish mezuzahs are traditionally affixed to doorposts.
