D-VHS

High-definition VHS

D-VHS was a digital video format using VHS-sized cassettes, capable of recording high-definition content.

Developed by JVC in the late 1990s, it offered substantially better picture quality than standard VHS but required dedicated equipment.

The format never gained wide adoption and was quickly overtaken by DVD and later Blu-ray technology.
