Cretans
Greek island natives
Cretans are people from Crete, the largest Greek island.
The word appears in a famous logical puzzle called the Liar Paradox: a Cretan says "All Cretans are liars"—if true, he's lying; if false, he's truthful.
This ancient riddle makes Cretan occasionally appear in philosophical discussions of self-reference and paradox.
