analyzer

Tool for dissection

An analyzer is a device or program that examines something to determine its components, structure, or properties: a spectrum analyzer, a network analyzer, a code analyzer.

The term applies broadly—from laboratory instruments that break down chemical compounds to software that evaluates data patterns or performance metrics.

A person who analyzes may also be called an analyzer, though analyst is more common for humans.
