Bocce

Petanque's Italian cousin

Bocce is an Italian ball game in which players take turns throwing or rolling balls toward a smaller target ball, aiming to get closer than their opponents.

The game is played on a long, narrow court of packed dirt or synthetic surface, though casual versions are played on lawns and beaches.

Also spelled boccie or bocci, it belongs to a family of bowling-style games that includes French pétanque and English bowls.

We set up a bocce court in the backyard for summer gatherings.
