DVD drives
Optical disc spinners
A DVD drive is a device in a computer or other electronic equipment that reads and often writes DVDs (digital versatile discs).
These optical drives use lasers to read data encoded on the disc's surface, allowing users to install software, play movies, or access stored files.
DVD drives were standard in computers through the 2000s and 2010s but have become increasingly rare as streaming and USB storage have replaced physical media.
My new laptop doesn't even have a DVD drive.
