Ayurveda

Hindu healing system

Ayurveda is a traditional Indian system of medicine dating back thousands of years, based on the belief that health depends on balance among body, mind, and spirit.

Practitioners diagnose imbalances in three fundamental energies called doshas and prescribe treatments including herbal remedies, dietary changes, yoga, massage, and meditation.

Ayurveda takes a holistic approach to wellness.

The adjective form is Ayurvedic: Ayurvedic medicine, Ayurvedic herbs. (Lowercase ayurveda occasionally appears but is nonstandard.)
