Mahabharata

Ancient Indian epic

The Mahabharata is one of the two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India, alongside the Ramayana.

At roughly 100,000 verses, it is among the longest works of literature ever composed.

The narrative centers on a dynastic struggle between two groups of cousins, the Pandavas and Kauravas, culminating in a catastrophic war.

Embedded within it is the Bhagavad Gita, a philosophical dialogue that has become central to Hindu thought.

She studied the Mahabharata in her comparative literature course.
