ANZACs

Southern Hemisphere troops

ANZACs stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, the combined military forces of those nations.

The term originated in World War I, particularly associated with the disastrous Gallipoli campaign of 1915.

ANZAC Day (April 25) commemorates those who served and died in war.

The word now refers broadly to Australian and New Zealand soldiers in any conflict: My great-grandfather was an ANZAC.
