worktop
Food preparation area
A worktop is a flat surface for preparing food or performing tasks, typically a countertop in a kitchen.
The term is standard in British English where Americans would say counter or countertop: We need to replace the worktop in the kitchen.
Worktops may be made of wood, stone, laminate, or other materials.
